Consider and Learn

You have had an ambition from several years. That ambition becomes your DREAM. A dream which you have been passionate about. A dream which drives you to do better every day. A dream which has shaped your choices in life. A dream, for which you have changed many things in life. A dream which you know is difficult to achieve but not IMPOSSIBLE!
One day, somebody comments that whatever you have dreamt of is something for which you are not good enough! A criticism which was unexpectedly expected. How do you deal with the criticism? Ignore it? Definitely no!
For a moment, you might feel frustrated that somebody has criticised you. You might feel like arguing back and saying that he or she is completely wrong. But... sit down and think about the reason behind the criticism. At least some part of it might be true. There might be something to learn from it. There might be a chance for you to correct whatever you have been doing. There might be a chance for improvement.
Taking criticism in a positive way helps you overcome your weakness because deep down you know that there is some truth in that criticism. It might seem very tough to accept your own faults and to work towards correcting them, but once you start doing it, you will definitely learn something worthwhile.
But, don’t let criticism change what you have believed in, what you have dreamt of. Do not let it change your focus. Take it as a lesson that you’ve learnt to make yourself better.

  1. Ya. But as u said its tough to accept ur own mistake. Specially when someone tells u that. So why should we listen to others. We know we cant take those things lightly or take just the good part of it. In that case its better to ignore them. And to learn for ourselves from our mistakes. Wat say??

  2. I personally believe that, we realise our mistakes only when someone points it out. A person who points out your mistake will have nothing to gain. taking only the Good or relevant part of the criticism will definitely prove to be helpful. By completely ignoring criticism, you will miss out on the learning that you go through while trying accept your faults. But, in case you can be critical about yourself and judge yourself then you don't have to listen to others.

Pratheek, I know that you are not convinced by my answer! ;)

  3. You got me right:). You cant find mistakes in yourself. We never see that part. We always think we are right. I agree. But one can never accept the faults shown by others without any hesitance. And that hesitance will make you ignore the good part. The first thing that comes to your mind is what does that person know about me to criticize my works. And you can never help it. I agree its good to accept things like that. But its next to impossible. And for everyone or almost everyone, its fun to show other's faults. so its kinda gain. You can never extract just the good part.It makes you think more. Makes you doubt yourself. So ignorin the criticsm is better than that.

  4. I think, if u strt takin ppl's criticism seriously, they wil strt to criticize u more. They wil strt to enjoy the fact tht u take it seriously! Instead of wasting time on what others say about us, its better if v just ignore it and do the tasks so tht no one cn point out the mistakes in tht..
